But the big question is what kind of impact it has over the millennials and the answer is it has its ups and downs like any other.

Who are all considered Millennials?

The millennial generation was born between the years 1981 and 1996. They are familiar with technology, electronics, and the internet, which is why they are called Native techies. Now, millennials are changing the way food delivery is done, yes by apps and doorstep delivery

Millennials are likely to order three times more than any other generation. It is not mainly because they are digital natives but because of the advantages, they get over using delivery apps.

Advantages:

  • Being passionate work-driven people, Millennials often miss out on their diet which has become less after the introduction of these kinds of delivery apps. One can easily order food right from their desk in two simple clicks.

  • Through these apps, even a startup restaurant could reach out to a much bigger audience in a short period.

  • Millennials always prefer to save their money without any effort which is smoothly served by these app’s deals and discounts and on top of that, they will get the mouth-watering food item delivered to their doorstep without having to move an inch from their comfort zone.

  • In fact, 8 in 10 millennials have used a discount code or coupon in the last 12 months, and, today, millennials are saving more money than they ever have before.

  • The subscription model of these apps has yet another impact on millennials offering them eye-catching deals ranging from free coupons to free delivery.

  • So, offering subscription services is a proven successful method to attract the millennial generation.

Disadvantages:

  • We surely get attracted by yummy-looking food pictures on apps but we forgot that despite being offered amazing deals and discounts these cost a lot more than a portion of home-cooked food. This can be considered one of the major disadvantages of online food ordering.

  • one can’t control everything through an automated system of delivery apps, and oftentimes conflicts occur between the restaurant owner and delivery providers regarding payments.

  • In some cases, there are complaints regarding the tips don’t reach the hard-worked delivery boy. Some apps make the part-time jobbers work through the day and loot them when it comes to tips and work-life balance.

  • Many cases have been noted where people who consume this type of food regularly face health issues and less movement on a daily basis ultimately makes them obese as well.

Conclusion

It’s pretty clear how important millennials are to food apps and the growth of the food industry. Ordering food online is not bad but one has to make sure to know beforehand what they are consuming and at least move from their seats in breaks to let the body have some movement to avoid the risk of being unhealthy.
